“I’m going to tell you the secret ingredients of a sniper,” Sumi grins as he takes a glass of hot peppers from the drawer. “Two of these with a snack twice daily and you can almost never miss!” Of course, now the other teams might also adjust their training plans to include peppers. “No, seriously, back in school, a hot meatloaf Kornspitz often kept me from falling asleep – and the horseradish cleared my head.

Preparation
In 2018, Sumi is back at the Olympic Games, but this time as an expert and co-host on television. Although he might be itching to defend his 2014 bronze medal, now he can focus more on the culinary highlights during the Games, such as his favourite Kornspitz.
A true Austrian knows all about meatloaves, which can be bought from one’s butcher of choice. Spread some mayonnaise and hot mustard onto an open Kornspitz, add slices of meatloaf and a few mild or hot peppers. Close the Kornspitz, take a bite and enjoy. That’s it!
